Truro City of Lights Festival
As part of our ongoing commitment to work with partners to develop community based projects, Community 1st Cornwall is a proud sponsor of the Truro City of Lights Festival since 2007, up to, and including 2012.
In 2012, the community saw a dazzling display of handcrafted paper and withy lanterns float through the streets of Truro, made and carried by professional artists, Cornish school children and local community and youth groups. There were over 10 giant lanterns in the City of Lights procession on the theme of ‘Kings and Queens’, and over 750 children and young people created their own lanterns for the event.
The event also included the official switch on of Truro’s Christmas lights, plus music and dance from Truro School of Samba and other local bands, and attracted an impressive turnout of local people.
A spokesperson for Community 1st Cornwall, said: “The parade provides a unique opportunity for us to be involved with the local community, and we are delighted to be able to support this exciting event once again this year. We have already been engaging with the Truro community through Arts for Health to bring creative and artistic thinking into the new Health Park, and the parade is always a superb example of how imaginative and inspirational the local community can be.”
