We are delighted to announce that the new health centre on Trevol Business Park in Torpoint, Penntorr Health, reached practical completion on 9th January and has been handed over to the tenants.
The £2m project was developed in partnership with the Rame Group GP Practice, Peninsula Community Health and Community Health Partnerships and houses the Rame Group surgeries previously based at Antony Road and St James Road and the community services previously provided from the Community Clinic at Hooper Street.
The project’s initial conception was the result of a wide-ranging service review and public engagement exercise which refreshed the local estate strategy and identified the need to create a new health care facility.
Services available on site include a GP practice, district nursing and health visitors, speech therapy, an Ambulance Trust dispatch room, pharmacy and minor surgery unit as well as a wealth of standard, training and enhanced medical services.
On handing the project over, Ken Jones, General Manager at Community 1st Cornwall, said: “Penntorr Health marks an exciting change in the way health services are delivered to the people of Torpoint and we are thrilled to be part of such an important project and see local people having access to top quality health services all under one roof.”
Antek Lejk, Executive Director at Community Health Partnerships added: “The opening of Penntorr Health marks the beginning of a new level of improved patient care for residents of Torpoint. This modern, spacious, multi-function facility is capable of delivering a wide range of health services in the community, meaning that more patients will be seen, diagnosed and treated closer to home.”
Penntorr Health will mark its official opening on Thursday 19th March when local MP Sheryll Murray will unveil a commemorative plaque.
