Approval For New Torpoint Health Centre

A project to develop a new health centre in Torpoint received planning approval by the local authority on 5th September and has now received approval from the Strategic Health Authority, bringing a step closer the provision of this new, modern facility for the people of Torpoint.

The new facility will replace the existing health clinic and two GP premises in Torpoint by developing a bespoke new health centre on Trevol Road, allowing the existing Rame Group Practice surgeries at Antony Road and St James Road and the Peninsula Community Health Community Clinic in Hooper Street to be housed in one centre at Trevol Business Park. The centre will also house the ambulance services and a pharmacy.

Ken Jones, Project Director of Community 1st Cornwall said: “Community 1st is proud to be working with our local partners to deliver this important facility. It’s exciting to see this much needed development take a step closer to providing the people of Torpoint with access to high quality health services in an innovative new building.”

Work is planned to start in early 2013.
