Phase 2 of Stratton Hospital redevelopment is well underway. The old ward block has now been demolished and work has started on repairing the 19th Century Cottage Hospital which will be re-attached to the newly refurbished out-patient department by a building to house a modern 16-bed ward.
The first phase of refurbishment work at Stratton Community Hospital started at the end of 2010 and involved the refurbishment of the out-patient department to allow the integration of the minor injuries unit.
The works were split into two phases to allow the hospital to remain in operation throughout. Work is due to be completed in early 2012.
Community 1st Cornwall is supporting NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly on an ongoing programme of much needed estate improvements and minor capital works to ensure the estate is fit for purpose and operating efficiently.
Over 30 individual minor capital projects have been completed to date, at a combined value in excess of £6 million. Projects range from re-wiring and re-roofing to more extensive extensions and refurbishments, providing much needed improvements to accommodation for NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly staff, GPs and patients.
