The first phase of refurbishment work at Stratton Community Hospital will begin this month. The work is being undertaken by Cornwall’s local estate partner, Community 1st Cornwall.
The refurbishment work will make significant improvements to the hospital to better meet local health needs, with this first phase involving the refurbishment of the out-patient department which will allow the integration of the minor injuries unit.
The works will be split into two phases to allow the hospital to remain in operation throughout, and the second phase will involve the demolition and reconstruction of the in-patients department. Work is due to be completed in early 2012.
Community 1st Cornwall is supporting NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly on an ongoing programme of much needed estate improvements and minor capital works to ensure the estate is fit for purpose and operating efficiently.
Over 50 individual minor capital projects have been completed to date, at a combined value in excess of £6 million. Projects range from re-wiring and re-roofing to more extensive extensions and refurbishments, providing much needed improvements to accommodation for NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly staff, GPs and patients.
