Plans for the new Bellair Health Park were approved at a planning committee hearing on 10th November.
Construction is now expected to begin in early 2010 with the facility complete and open to the public in 2011.
The development is being delivered by Community 1st Cornwall as part of NHS Cornwall & Isles of Scilly’s investment in the LIFT (Local Improvement Finance Trust) programme and demonstrates NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly’s ongoing investment in health and community facilities for the people of Cornwall.
The new health park, located on the site of the existing Bellair Health Clinic, will replace the existing GP premises of Alverton, Penalverne, Rosmellyn and Sunnyside in Penzance and bring them, as well as a range of primary care services, together into one single site.
The new multi-million pound health development is something NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly and Community 1st Cornwall have been working towards for a number of years and represents an exciting and unique opportunity to modernise facilities, whilst maintaining continuity of service provision at the heart of the community and will allow for wider access to a range of health services in one location.
