Community 1st Cornwall were delighted at the excellent attendance at the recent open day held at the Hall for Cornwall, where plans and an architectural model of the proposed Truro Health Park development were displayed.
The number of people attending the event continues to demonstrate that local community support for this scheme remains very high.
The event provided an opportunity to update local residents and users of the existing GP and PCT facilities on Lemon Street and The Leats on the PCT’s commitment to progress a new health scheme in Truro. The PCT Board approved the Business Case for the scheme in September.
The project has had strong community involvement throughout supported by Arts for Health Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. Arts for Health has staged workshops with local residents and some of the ideas to come out of these sessions are to be incorporated into the building and outdoor spaces; visitors to the open day event had the opportunity to view the excellent work undertaken to date.
The development of the new facility is being led by Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Primary Care Trust, as a partnership project for the NHS and is being developed as part of the NHS LIFT (Local Improvement Finance Trust) initiative in Cornwall by the county’s LIFTco, Community 1st Cornwall Limited, in which the PCT is a shareholder.
