Investing in a Healthy Future for Cornwall and Isles of Scilly

Members of the Community 1st Cornwall team spent the day at the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Primary Care Trust ‘Healthy Futures’ fair  in Newquay on Monday 10th September to show the public some of the various stages of proposals for four new health and community facilities at different locations across the County.

As well as images from the operational health centres in Liskeard and Roche, the public got to see details of the flagship Health park development at Truro, which is due to start construction in the coming months, and the planning application drawings of a new primary care centre in Praze-an-Beeble which are being developed through the LIFT initiative by Community 1st Cornwall.

To date more than £8 million has been invested in health and support services infrastructure through the LIFT programme in Cornwall, with a further £35 million of investment currently proposed for the development of these four new health and community facilities. These schemes will allow the Primary Care Trust to deliver more community based services, and over the next few years it is estimated that the total investment in Cornwall through the LIFT programme will rise to around £60m.
